If this happens regularly, there are a couple of things to keep in mind:

  1. How simple and succinct are your questions?
  2. How many questions are you asking at a time?

As coach, your aim is to ask questions that help your coachee to expand their thinking. It’s always helpful to keep your questions as short and simple as possible, so that your coachee can easily understand and reflect on your question. The harder it is for your coachee to decipher what your question is, the more distracted they may feel during your peer coaching sessions.
