Here are our five tips for establishing a strong bond with your peer coach:

  1. Invest in the experience: Be genuinely committed to supporting your peer coach’s personal development. This relationship is a unique opportunity to grow alongside someone else, so we hope you will approach it with intention and care.
  2. Respect each other’s time: Make sure you have enough time to dedicate to this relationship. Value your peer coach’s time as well as your own—think of it as an investment in your own growth. If you realise you can’t fully commit, it’s better to be honest about it from the start.
  3. Communicate openly: If you face scheduling conflicts or might be delayed in responding to emails, let your peer coach know. A simple apology and explanation can go a long way and may even deepen your connection.
  4. Clarify your communication preferences: Reflect on how you prefer to communicate, whether it’s via email, text, WhatsApp, or another method. Share these preferences with your peer coach early on to ensure easy communication that works for both of you.
  5. Express enthusiasm and appreciation: Don’t hold back from sharing positive feedback and appreciation. Whether it’s their approach, values, or something they’ve shared with you, let them know what you’ve appreciated. When you’re initially matched, it’s always nice to express excitement about working together!
